New ground at the ground floor - Nuovo terreno al pian terreno

From 17th to 19th June the concrete floor of the ground floor was made. First the drain pipes were positioned, then a waterproof  sheath, a metallic reinforcement net and the concrete. Now you can really walk 

on a solid floor.

Dal 17 al 19 giugno viene fatto il getto di calcestruzzo al piano terreno. Per prima cosa sono stati posizionati i tubi degli scarichi, poi una guaina impermeabile (nera), quindi l'armatura metallica ed infine il calcestruzzo. Ora si può camminare su un fondo ben solido. 

Underpinning - Sottomurazioni

"Underpinning" is the process of strengthening the foundation. It is done in two steps: first an excavation is done under the existing stone foundation, as you can see in the following pictures.

"Sottomurazione" è il progesso di rinforzo delle fondamenta. Viene eseguito in due fasi: prima viene eseguito uno scavo sotto le fondamenta di pietra esistenti, come si vede nelle immagini seguenti.

Then the hole is filled with concrete. In the Old House the process was entirely done by hand.

Quindi il buco viene riempito di calcestruzzo. Nella Casa Vecchia l'intero processo è stato fatto a mano.

Strengthening the foundation - La consolidazione delle fondamenta

The Old House is a stone building, with a shallow foundation. Belluno is an earthquake area, therefore it was mandatory to strengthen the foundation with concrete. The first step was to remove the stone floor and dig inside the old House. Very hard work, most of it done, as we say in Belluno with "pala e pìc", that is manually with shovel and pickaxe. The following pictures were taken 3 June.

La Casa Vecchia è fatta di pietra, con fondamenta poco profonde. Belluno è in zona sismica, quindi è stato obbligatorio consolidare le fondamenta con un getto di calcestruzzo. Il primo passo è stato la rimozione dei pavimenti di pietra e lo scavo all'interno dell'edificio. Lavoro molto duro fatto, come si dice a Belluno con "pala e pìc", cioè a mano con badile e piccone. Le foto seguenti sono state scattate il 3 giugno.

All the debris from the excavation was, of course, accumulated in the inner courtyard.
Tutto il materiale di risulta dello scavo fu ovviamente accumulato in cortile.

The adventure begins...at last! - L'avventura comincia...finalmente!

The big adventure began on Monday 17th May 2010. First of all the building firm delimited the construction site and the workers started to demolish some unsafe parts of the "Baracca", climbing like chamois on top of the walls!

L'avventura cominciò lunedì 17 maggio 2010. Innanzitutto l'impresa di costruzioni delimitò il cantiere e gli operai cominciarono a demolire alcune parti pericolanti della baracca, camminando come camosci sulla sommità dei muri.

They started to knock down the wooden floors and some partition walls, throwing everything into the inner courtyard. And this is just the beginning...

Cominciarono anche a demolire i pavimenti e i solai di legno e le tramezze, gettando tutto nel cortile interno. E questo è solo l'inizio...
